Where our money comes from
As a registered charity, Caravan receives its income from a variety of sources. We hold a number of fundraising events throughout the year on both a national and regional level, and are also reliant on generous donations and sponsorship from members of the grocery industry. One of our main fundraising events is the Annual Ball held in February or March each year which is a firm favourite on the grocery calendar.
Another well established event is the Annual Luncheon held each November, while the Christmas Carol Concert is a newer event started in 2000, which is becoming increasingly popular. Other more physical activities which contribute significantly to Caravan’s income include the Windermere Row in which teams from the grocery industry compete to row a ten and a half mile circuit of Lake Windermere; and our new event for 2008 the London to Paris cycle challenge, where individuals cycle 250 miles over 3 days ending with a well deserved celebration party in Paris!
On a local level the 10 regional branches are also very active on the fundraising front, holding a variety of money spinning events throughout the year.
