Caravan has 9 regional branches throughout the country, and between them they contribute significantly towards the charity’s fundraising efforts. In the last financial year their tireless efforts brought in a combined total of over £700,000, which is a tremendous result as they all give of their time on a voluntary basis and most also hold down demanding day jobs as well.

“I had heard that some old men got together to arrange the odd lunch or dinner, often with lots of wine,” says Ted McFadyen, chairman of the Thames Valley branch. “What I actually found was a vibrant group of people from across the industry who were committed to making a difference. It takes very little time to deliver a hamper of goods at Christmas, and playing a round of golf to fund the hamper, the pension and the discretionary funds is easy! 'Payment' for taking time to organise such events is only a few hours each month - and knowing that you've helped some people who made the trade what it is today is really rewarding.”
