Caravan Cycles to Paris...
18 riders cycled 250 miles from London to Paris and raised £26k for Caravan.
Leaving Kingston on Thursday morning we cycled through the beautiful North and South Downs, heading up and down over a few big hills, some which involved a bit of pushing rather than cycling! And arrived at Portsmouth early evening to fill up on a nice hearty Carvery.
Friday morning we crawled out of bed for a 5:15am start and a quick cycle over the road to catch the ferry to Caen. By lunchtime we had arrived in sunny France and we were off on our journey to Bernay taking us through some glorious French countryside.
The last day saw the team cycle 100 miles in one day and after a freezing morning it soon warmed up to provide excellent cycling conditions for our journey into Paris. We journeyed past the magnificent Palace of Versailles and after a few scary laps of the Arc de Triomphe we finally arrived at the Eiffel Tower, our final destination, and had a well deserved drink!
Peter Cattell, Tesco Category Director commented: “I went into agreeing full of apprehension not really knowing what to expect. Having done it and met a great bunch of people I can honestly say it was a fantastic experience.”
