First Training Day Raises £42,000 for Caravan
'An Introduction to Collaborative Negotiation: Profit from Partnership' was the focus of the recent training day held on 17th February 2011 by The Gap Partnership in conjunction with Asda and GlaxoSmithKline. More than 40 people attended the interactive one-day workshop which introduced some of the core principles of creative and collaborative negotiation. We are pleased to report that the £42,000 proceeds from the day have been donated to Caravan; your industry charity. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.
Those attending the day heard from two of the largest players in the UK retail market about how they approach sensitive and creative negotiation, which included case studies and real life examples to illustrate how value can be created whilst working in a collaborative manner. They also took part in negotiation exercises which looked at how short-term actions affect long-term relationships and also gave attendees the opportunity to put into practice negotiation skills with Gap consultants based on real life examples.
By the end of the day, all attendees came away with a better understanding of the importance of trust, how competitive behaviour affects commercial relationships, had gained valuable insights from key executives on how they have been able to maximise value in their negotiations and they had also seen how joint business planning can be used to influence collaborative negotiations.
Further training days are under discussion and will cover a wide range of subjects. Information on these will be available soon and can be found within our Events Calendar.
