The Olympians Luncheon, which took place on Friday 4th November 2011, was attended by more than 820 people from across the industry and raised a record breaking £279,000 which will enable us to look after more than 210 of our 2,100 beneficiaries and dependants for another 12 months.
During the afternoon, James Cracknell OBE, double Olympic Gold medallist and adventurer and Clare Balding, a freelance presenter, writer and broadcaster, entertained familiar faces from all across the industry.
The auction this year, with guest auctioneer Willie Thorne (snooker's "Mr Maximum"), was a spectacular success raising a record £51,500. Our thanks go to ASDA, J Sainsbury, Tesco Stores Ltd and Waitrose Ltd who kindly donated the auction lots.
There was also an extra special 'money can't buy' prize in the £20 Draw, kindly donated by Procter & Gamble. Two category B tickets for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympic Games on Friday 27th July 2012 were won by Simon Cloke from Booker.
It was a fantastic afternoon and we would like to extend our thanks to all of our sponsors, to the companies who donated prizes and to all those who attended. Without you, we wouldn’t have been able to raise a record amount – a £50,000 increase on last year - so many thanks to one and all for this fantastic achievement.
The winners of the 2011 Caravan Achievement Awards were also announced at the Olympians Luncheon – a record 160 companies received an award in this the fourth year. Congratulations to all those who have done so much to help raise awareness and monies for the charity.
Next year, the Annual Luncheon will take place on Friday 2nd November 2012. If you are interested in sponsoring this fantastic event please contact events@caravan-charity.org.uk or visit the Events Calendar for further information.
