Caravan, the charity for the grocery industry, is pleased to announce that Renatha Fourie has been appointed in the new role of Welfare Development Manager, with special responsibility towards growing our team of Volunteer Welfare Assessors and with enabling them to enhance the service that we offer to those in need.
In the ongoing battle against social isolation our Volunteer Welfare Assessors play a vital role. Each of our beneficiaries is allocated an Assessor, who keeps in regular contact and ensures they have someone to turn to in times of need. Caravan also keeps in contact with a quarterly newsletter, personal birthday and Christmas cards.
Through active leadership Renatha will be creating and embedding the Caravan vision for volunteering, providing inspiratin, motivation and expertise to all across the industry. This role is responsible for ensuring the continuing development and delivery of a world class volunteering experience for all those who dedicate their time towards our vision; "to be at the heart and soul of the industry; helping to create a better future for current and former colleagues."
We currently have more than 55 Volunteer Welfare Assessors who are often the first port of call for our beneficiaries when they need guidance on benefits and services, or just someone to talk to. They are our 'front line' who, by their visits, are able to ensure the continued welfare needs of our beneficiaries is sufficiently met. Every single report is studied and acted upon where necessary, and without their input we would be unaware of the real needs of our members.
More information on our Welfare Assessors and how you can help can be found within the Welfare pages on our website.
