The eighth Annual Caravan National 5-a-side Football Tournament, sponsored by Warburtons, took place on Saturday 16th July with 42 teams taking part on the day. A great time was had by all who attended and a huge effort was made by each of the teams, a true reflection of the dedication across the industry to both the wider work of Caravan and the overall commitment to sporting endeavour from the teams. A record £23,000 was raised for the Charity. This will help us support more than 28 beneficiaries for twelve months with an annual grant, which works out at just over £15/week and can more than double their disposable income.
The teams from across the industry, including a number of new teams to the event, competed fiercely to win the title. The Kellogg’s team reached the final after beating McCambridge North 3-0, continuing Kellogg’s unbeaten record from the group stages where they finished top of their group. Arla Foods also had a clean run to the final after beating Parfetts Stockport 2-0 in the semi-final.
An extremely closely fought final saw Kellogg’s retaining their unbeaten record and winning against Arla Foods 1-0 to become the Caravan 5-a-side 2011 Champions.
For those who did not qualify for the Cup, a Plate competition was held with New Chapter Consulting beating Symingtons 1-0.
The Cup winners were presented with their trophies and were delighted to receive an iPad2 for each team member and the runners up didn’t go away empty handed with each receiving an Amazon voucher and gift bag. These fantastic prizes were kindly sponsored by TATA Global Beverages.
