The Judges met in early April to assess the progress of companies entered into the fourth year of the Caravan Achievement Awards. Since September 2010, every company who’s been actively supporting the charity has been automatically entered into the awards and healthy competition is already showing, with companies striving to better their achievement.
Since September Caravan has already seen an increase in the amount that companies across the industry do to support the charity; this is down to their drive to grow fundraising efforts and their increased participation in the charity and the work that it does. There are also several new companies who are predicted to receive an award this year.
Kerry Foods is a great example of a supporting company who from its Bronze award last year has recognised that it could do more for Caravan. This year it is making a stated effort to make an even bigger difference to Caravan. Fliss Cox, Director of Strategy at Kerry Foods comments; “Many of Kerry Foods’ employees support Caravan’s national events and local branches’ fundraising activities. We are very proud that our Direct to Store colleagues are raising awareness of Caravan through our daily contact with the independent grocery sector.”
PepsiCo UK & Ireland has also strengthened its support, through sponsorship of the Annual Diamond Ball and its support of the virtual hampers which went out to the Caravan beneficiaries before Christmas. PepsiCo looks well on the way to moving up a level from last year’s Silver award.
