Welfare Strategy Group

This committee looks to understand the role of the charity going forward and the provision that Caravan may be called upon to provide amongst current, former and future grocery colleagues to help alleviate poverty.

The Welfare Strategy Group (WSG) is a sub-committee of the Trustee Board and was set up in 2004 to review the initial findings of the Caravan Welfare Study work that was carried out in conjunction with the industry and the management consultants, Accenture.

The specific responsibilities of the WSG are as follows:

  • To report no less than four times per year to the Board of Trustees on actions suggested/work in progress of the WSG
  • To review the industry data collected in various surveys/questionnaires and alert the industry, via the board of trustees, of the findings
  • Recommend action plans for the short, medium and long term that may help address pensioner poverty in the grocery industry
  • Commission further analysis as deemed necessary by the WSG
  • To work with other key players in the delivery of goods & services to the industry
  • To appoint individuals to the committee from time to time, either for specific projects or for the long-term good of the fun
